Botulinum Toxin, often referred to as Botox is a medical neurotoxic chemical of purified protein, made from clostridium botulinum, that is injected into the skin to temporarily eliminate fine lines and wrinkles in the face by freezing the muscle. Botox treatments are minimally invasive and incredibly popular for areas of the face and body with great cosmetic and medical uses. If you are thinking about getting a Botox cosmetic treatment, you may want to consider the areas of your face or body you wish to treat and the cost.
At Solea Lounge, we definitely recommend treatments that will suit your budget; however, it is important to stay open-minded to avoid putting your health and safety at risk for a lower price option. Rest assured; we will give you the full breakdown during an initial free consultation for optimal results; however, here is some crucial information that will help to get you prepared beforehand.
Botox, or Botulinum Toxin, has become a renowned name across the globe making it one of the more popular treatments used for anti-aging in most adults. It is the name of the FDA-approved nerve-blocking drug that is used to temporarily freeze the muscles in the targeted area of your face or body for either cosmetic or medical purposes. Other brands that use the same ingredient found in Botox include Xeomin, Jeuveau and Dysport where we recommend visiting a laser clinic or health facility where registered doctors, plastic surgeons or registered nurses will administer the Botox injection.
Botox is injected into your facial muscles to prevent the release of acetylcholine which will help to prevent muscle contractions. This helps your muscles to become less stiff or tense to avoid muscle contraction that causes those expression lines and wrinkles. Although most people use Botox for cosmetic purposes to target areas on the entire face including frown lines by the mouth, wrinkles in the forehead and crow’s feet which is found by the eye area, as well as the neck, jaw and lips; it can also be used for medical treatments. Botox can aid migraines, muscle stiffness, excessive sweating, neck spasms, an overactive bladder and even crossed eyes. Typically, the result of Botox lasts 3 to 4 months although results may vary. You may be happy to know that research shows that the prolonged use of Botox may help to prevent wrinkles further.
Considering Botox is a medication, the recommended dosage should be determined by a doctor or registered nurse. At Solea Lounge, one of our medical professionals will measure the dosage in units which ensures that our patients are getting exactly what they pay for, and the amount they actually need, during a treatment, for optimal results.
The area of treatment will determine how many units of Botox you will use for the desired results. Botox usually comes in 50 and 100 unit vials where you may only require a small amount for some of the areas mentioned, however, you may require more units for other areas. An example of this would be the need for 20 units of a Botox injection for a specific area such as the eyes to target crow’s feet but 32 units for the forehead to target wrinkles or creases. The treatment area will determine the number of units you need which will help to work out the overall cost.
The exact cost of Botox is determined by several factors including the experience of your practitioner, the treatment area and the number of units you require. During your free consultation, we will assess the area you would like to have a Botox treatment to give an exact price of the cost you will be looking at. For most clinics, the average price of a single Botox treatment is anywhere between $350 to $600 where a single unit can cost $10 to $30 per unit, depending on the geographical location of your clinic.
For Botox injections of the horizontal forehead lines, you could be looking at a total amount of $200 to $300 for up to 20 units however, forehead injections are usually coupled with treatments for glabellar lines, lines between the eyebrows, where a higher dose is required and could cost up to $800 for 40 units. For treatments that require 60 units, your cost could add up to $1,200.
For Crow’s feet, you should expect to pay anywhere from $150 to $400 where each eye will require 10 to 15 units on each side. If you would like more movement around the eyes, our practitioner can inject a little less and still achieve your desired results and reduce cost.
All in all, the cost of your Botox procedure will depend on the number of Botox units needed to address any wrinkles or lines on your face. Other factors of cost will include how many areas you wish to treat and the location of your clinic.
As mentioned, an injection of Botox will typically last 3 to 4 months but results will not show immediately. You should expect results to appear within at least 5 days where we recommend booking an appointment with us a week or two in advance before any special event or occasion.
Are there any side effects?
A Botox treatment is incredibly safe and usually comes with minimal side effects and no downtime although you may experience slight bruising at the injection site which should subside within a few days. Most patients believe that the treatment is completely worth the cost as it works on everyone to provide consistent results, especially for those with aging skin. The only true side effect from your Botox cosmetic treatment is a beautiful brow lift and the reduction of smile lines, wrinkles and anti-skin!
